RoadSparrow's Migration

January 29, 2006 - Wonderful news! Rachael's going to The Ice! They just contacted her and asked if she wanted to winter over. She'll leave in mid-February and be there until August or October (not yet decided). They're giving her about a wekk to be with her family before she leaves and after her psyc tests in Colorado.

January, 2006 - Rachael spent the winter with her family in Minnesota, then took another road trip - this time to New Mexico to put in an application to work on 'The Ice' Antarctica - with Skittles, one of her hiking companions from the AT. They visited the humble webmistriss (aka, the person typing this). Skittles took a bus back to MN after a few days in Texas, while Rachael stayed (and took a short trip to Arkansas to visit and old friend and paint a small mural). Then Roadster headed back to the AT, where she stayed just long enough to be at Trail Days (May 2005). After that she went back to Alaska to fish for the last time, then returned home to MN. She took another short trip to Texas in September, before settling down in Minnesota to learn how to quilt. Rachael is currently in Lousianna, hoping to earn enough to get her down to Antarctica.

After taking the summer off from the Trail to fish in Alaska, Rachael returned to the Appalachion Trail, and after completeing more than half of the 2,176 miles (she made it to 1,228 miles), Rachael has returned home to Minnesota to relax with her family for a few months before heading to South America.

Rachael has finished her tour of Asia and the Middle East and has returned to the U.S. to take on several months hike along the Appalachion Trail. She does not expect to be able to have much contact with us during her hike, although she will send updates as she can.

Rachael spent the summer of 2003 fishing in Alaska, and made enough there to continue her travels, going through Asia working her way west towards the Middle East.

Rachael spent the winter (or summer, depending on your hemisphere) in Australia and New Zealand, returning by way of Taihiti. Before that, she spent time in Hawaii, and Alaska (another summer of fishing). She spent the summer before that touring Europe, with a few stops in North Africa. Her first stint of travel was a road trip of the United States. More information and images from these trips will become available as time permits. If you have pictures, or anything else of interest from these trips that you would like posted, please contact the webmistress.

If you have suggestions or comments, or just want to invite her over, you can email Rachael. If you would like to help support Rachael's travels, please shop at the soon-coming RoadSparrow Store at CaféPress.com.
